Voices of the Survivors

When a murder happens there is not just the one victim, there are many affected. Sometimes, our survivors are brave enough to share their stories on camera. Here are their stories. 

 

Kyle Riley

Kyle Riley's mother Mary shares with us about how the unsolved murder of her son has effected her and others in numerous ways. Mary speaks about the many different challenges and obstacles a homicide survivor faces in the wake and aftermath of an unsolved homicide. Mary talks about the ways she has been able to cope and keep hope that the murder of her son Kyle will eventually be solved and the ways in which Homicide Survivors, 88-crime, and the media can be of assistance. 

Donald Gearhart

Donald's sister, Susan Gearhart-Vega talked about the pain of not yet finding justice for the brutal beating and subsequent death of Donald. Donald was found beaten on December 24, 2009. He finally succumbed to his injuries on March15, 2010 after several months of hospitalization. Donald's case is an unresolved homicide with no known suspect. 

 

Jermaine Davis

Jermaine's brother, Maurice Nelson, shares the tragic loss of his brother and how it has affected his life since the unsolved murder. Jermaine was shot and left in the street to die, his car was found the next day. Jermaine's case is an unresolved homicide with no know suspect.

 

Connor Kroviak

Connor's mother, Samantha Fietek, took some time to share the tragic death of her little boy. Conner had a babysitter watching him and he choked Connor to quiet him down. Samantha returned home from work and was not aware that her son was struggling for his life in his crib. When it was discovered that he was injured, he was rushed to the hospital where he was removed from life support several days later and subsequently succumbed to his injuries. The babysitter was arrested and is currently in custody awaiting trial with a potential death penalty if convicted.
